1. PARTICIPATIO (download here)
1.1 There shall be 15 categories: Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 with separate events for Open and Girls, Open section with no age limit. Players entitled to participate in each Age Group category shall not have reached their respective age by 1st January, 2025. See the table below:

1.2 A valid FIDE ID is mandatory. Players without FIDE ID must contact their respective Federations to have FIDE ID issued before registration.
1.3 Players can register directly with the Organizing Committee.
1.4 Tournament entry is free for GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs, and players with FIDE Ratings above 2500.

3. PRIZES FOR STANDARD GAMES
3.1 Cash Prizes will be awarded

3.2 In case of a tie after the tie-breaks, the amount(s) will be shared.
3.3 There shall be at least 10 players in each category. Insufficient players resulting in merged categories will have cash prizes reduced proportionately.
3.4 The top 3 players from each category/age group will receive a trophy and certificate, and each player ranked from the 4th to the 6th place will receive a medal and certificate.
3.5 All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
3.6 Cash prizes for non- citizens are subject to 20% local tax. For tax information, please refer to the Ministry of Finance’s “Standards of Withholding Rates for Various Incomes" on the R.O.C’s tax portal website.
4. SYSTEM OF PLAY
4.1 The tournament will be held in 9 rounds Swiss system in accordance with FIDE Laws of Chess.
4.2 The organizers reserve the right to merge players across categories/age groups based on the number of registered players. Categories/age groups may be merged, but prizes awarded separately. Players can win one prize only based on the registered category/group.
4.3 The tournament will be FIDE-rated.
4.4 Swiss Manager program will be used for pairings.
5. TIME CONTROL
5.1 Standard: 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move.
5.2 The default time will be 15 minutes after each round is started.
6. TIE-BREAKS SYSTEM
6.1 The tie-breaks order will be:
1) Direct encounter
2) Median Buchholz
3) Buchholz
4) Greater Number of Wins
7. BLITZ
7.1 The Blitz tournament will be held 9 rounds Swiss System on 19th July 2025, with time control of 3 minutes with an increment of 2 seconds per move.
7.2 All CTCA Standard Tournament players will be automatically included in the Blitz tournament list. If any player does not wish to play in the Blitz tournament, please notify the organizer before or by 12pm on 17th July 2025.
7.3 Blitz Tournament will be played in one group only and will have prizes awarded based on their registered category/age group.
7.4 Prizes for Blitz tournament will consist of medals, certificates, and gift prize for the top 6 players in Open Category. All other categories/age group, top 3 players will each receive a medal, certificate, and a gift. 4th to 6th ranked players will each receive a certificate and a gift.
7.5 Blitz Tournament will be FIDE rated.
7.6 Players with a valid FIDE ID who are not playing CTCA Open Standard Tournament can register for the Blitz tournament. The entry fee is NT$1000.
8. APPEALS COMMITTEE
8.1 The Appeals Committee will be appointed during the Technical Meeting. An appeal, accompanied by a deposit of USD 100.00 (One hundred US Dollars), must be written and submitted within 15 minutes of the completion of the relevant playing game. The deposit will be refunded if the appeal is successful.
9. CONDITIONS
9.1 Tournament entry is free for GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs and players with FIDE Ratings above 2500.
9.2 A limited number of free rooms will be available for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIMs. These rooms are based on requirements and will be allocated on a first-come-first- serve basis to the titled players who can confirm their attendance.
9.3 Titled players may also discuss with the Organizer other potential conditions as required.
9.4 If you meet the requirements and would like to be considered for the free accommodation, please contact the organizer.
9.5 The organizers reserve the right to accept or reject any players registering and/or entering the tournament.
9.6 All players not receiving conditions are responsible for all their expenses, including entry fees and accommodations.
10. Additional Information
10.1 Mobile phones and electronic devices are not allowed in the playing hall. Any violation shall result in loss of the game.
10.2 Photo taking is allowed within the first 10 minutes of each round, in designated areas for registered accompany only.
10.3 Any personal information collected will be used for the purpose of the tournament only.
10.4 Any withdrawal from the tournament before 11th June 2025 will incur 20% of the fees charged and from 12th June to 30th June, will incur 50% of the fees charged. Any withdraw from the tournament after 1st July 2025 will be non-refundable (no reason accepted). The Organizer will complete the refund within one month after the end of the tournament.
10.5 The playing venue has a capacity for 250 players. If the number of registrations exceeds the upper limit capacity, the organizer will accommodate players in the order of FIDE rating and the time of registration. All other players will receive refunds accordingly.
10.6 FIDE ID name will be written on the certificates.
10.7 Participation in this tournament will be accepted as the player’s consent to take photos, videos in this event for publishing and promotions. If you do not wish to have any photo/video taken please contact the organizer.
11.REGISTRATION FEE
A registration fee to the Organizer is required for every participant (player and accompany person with exception of players receiving conditions). The registration fee includes official polo shirt, souvenir, entrance to the venues, analysis rooms, opening ceremony, closing ceremony and dinner banquet. For foreign participants, registration fee is inclusive of transportation to and from the official hotel to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

12. OFFICIAL HOTEL AND VENUE OF PLAY (read more)
Official Hotel: Monarch Skyline Hotel, Taoyuan (Business 5★)
12.1 All international players and accompanying persons shall have to be registered through the Organizer and to stay in the Official Hotel- Monarch Skyline Hotel, Taoyuan.
The room rates are inclusive of:
1) 7 Nights’ accommodation- 16th ~ 23rd July
2) 7 Breakfasts- 17th ~ 23rd July
3) 5 Buffet Lunch 17th ~ 19th July and 21st ~ 22nd July
4) free use of facilities gym/business center/lounge bar.
12.2 The rates do not include dinner, nor lunch on the Free Day.
12.3 Extra buffet lunch tickets can be purchased for US$17 per meal, please notify the Organizer at registration.
12.4 The Organizer cannot guarantee all types of the rooms to be available by request. Any changes or refunds will be given accordingly.
12.5 Hotel payments for all players and accompanying persons must be made on or before 10th June to Chinese Taipei Chess Association. Payments made after 10th June 2025 will incur additional charges.
13.REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS AND ACCOMPANYING PERSONS
13.1 All participants must pay registration fee (except players receiving conditions).
13.2 Please make all the payments to the Organizers’ official account.
13.3 Please send the registration form and the type of the required room (please check the attachment). All players and accompanying persons are also required to send the passport and color passport photo in jpg file (please use your name as the file name) to the Organizer for preparation of name badges. All accompanying persons must have identification badges (with photo) for admittance into Opening Ceremony , playing venue, rest area, dinner banquet and closing Ceremony. 13.4 Any withdrawal from the tournament after the 10th June 2025 will incur 20% of the fees charged and during 11st June to 30th June, will incur 50% of the fees charged. Any withdraw from the tournament after 1st July 2025 will be non-refundable (no reasonaccepted). The Organizer will complete the refund within one month after the end of the tournament.
13.5 Please indicate your dietary requirements (if any) and the clothing size in the registration form. Please refer to the following table for clothing size (the fit is narrower than the normal size)

17.TRAVEL AND TOUR INFORMATION
17.1 All participants arriving by international flights should take plane to Taoyuan International Airport Taiwan.
17.2 The host federation will arrange the transportation between airport and hotel for arrival and departure during the schedule dates. Please email us your flight details.
